Sometimes winning is not a good thing!

Yesterday's games were ugly. The team we faced, IMHO, was not even as good as the team we beat last week by 18, but we made them look like the Boston Celtics or something. Here's why I say winning is not always a good thing:

With a winless team, a win can do one of two things. On the good side, it will make the team hungry for some more of the good feeling that comes with being victorious; they'll try harder and work to improve even more so that they can beat even better teams than the one they just defeated. On the bad side, a win can make a team think that they're "all that," and stop working to improve, stop trying as hard in competition, stop doing the things that got them the win in the first place. I think that my team chose option two.

Now, we have to start all over basically, going back to the fundamental errors we made and trying to correct them. Unfortunately, we have another team next week that is traditionally pretty weak, so we're probably going to do the whole thing all over again; get a win, think we're all that, and get it handed to us the following week. I hope not!

Anyway, keep those cards and letters coming in! - Dan
