Well, it took ahwile, but my 7th-graders finally got a win tonight! Based upon past experience, I knew that we should be able to press the team we played, so we came out pressing HARD and jumped out to a 10-2 lead before they knew what hit 'em! Well, we never looked back and had s solid 10-point lead at the half. Even though they came out playing with a lot of energy and emotion after the half (oh, how I would like to have been a fly on the wall in THEIR locker room at the half!) we soon jumped out to a 20 point advantage and had to stop pressing (our league has a "mercy rule" that doesn't allow a press when the other team is up by 20 or more). Well, it didn't matter that much; they got back within 17, but that's where it ended.
Well, maybe that'll turn things around, but we have a tough game next week against a 4-1 team. If we can take the momentum from this one and translate it into continued improvement, we may be turning a corner! Woo-hoo! - Dan
